How to Claim Your Business Listing on Search IT
Search IT Editorial Team · 28 October 2026 · 5 min read · Updated 31 October 2026
To claim your business listing on Search IT, find your business, tap Claim this business, tell us your role and how we can confirm it's yours, choose any package from $0.99, and wait for our team to check your claim, usually within 1–2 hours. Once approved, you can edit your details, add photos, reply to reviews and start accepting messages and bookings.
This guide walks through each step, explains what proof helps, and lists the first five things to update once your claim is approved.
Why claim your listing
Many businesses are already listed on Search IT, often added before the owner knew about it. Some came across from the previous version of the site. An unclaimed listing can still be found by customers, but nobody is looking after it. That causes problems:
- Details go out of date. An old phone number or wrong opening hours send customers elsewhere.
- Reviews go unanswered. Customers can review unclaimed listings, but only the owner can reply.
- Features are switched off. Unclaimed listings have no booking, messages, offers, posts or insights, and they rank below listings on a paid plan.
If you've moved, changed your phone number or rebranded, an unclaimed listing showing the old details can quietly cost you customers. Claiming it is often quicker than you'd expect, and it lets you fix the information at the source rather than hoping customers notice it's wrong.
Claiming puts you in control. You can correct your details, add photos and services, reply to reviews, post updates and offers, and turn on booking and messages. Your listing also moves up into your plan's placement tier.
Find your business
- Search for your business on Explore by name, or by category and location.
- Check it's really yours. Look at the address, phone number and photos. If you have several branches, make sure you've found the right location.
- Tap Claim this business on the listing page. You'll be asked to sign in or create a free account first. New accounts confirm their email with a 6-digit code.
If the listing shows Report incorrect ownership instead of a claim button, someone else has already claimed it. Use that link to tell us what's happened, and our team will look into it.
If you can't find your business at all, it isn't listed yet. You can add it as a new listing instead.
Choose a package
Claiming requires any paid package. You choose the package as part of the claim:
- Starter ($0.99, one-time): one listing, visible for 7 days, with online booking, up to 5 photos, 2 posts, 1 active offer and direct messages. A low-cost way to claim and tidy up your listing.
- Advanced ($4.99/month): up to 5 listings with no expiry while subscribed, priority placement in your category, engagement insights, up to 15 photos per listing, 4 posts a month and 3 active offers.
- Premium ($9.99/month): up to 10 listings, the Verified badge after a document check, homepage and top-of-category placement, a custom banner or video, full analytics, up to 30 photos and unlimited posts and offers.
Which should you choose? If you simply want to take control of the listing, correct your details and see how Search IT works for you, Starter is enough to start with. Remember that a Starter listing is visible for 7 days, after which you can move to another package. If you want your listing to stay live and appear higher in your category, Advanced is the usual choice. If trust is especially important in your line of work, or you want the most visibility, Premium adds the Verified badge and homepage placement. You can upgrade at any time from Dashboard → Billing.
Prices are shown in your local currency where available. You pay securely through Stripe, and if our team can't confirm your claim, you get a full refund automatically. See full details on our pricing page.
What proof helps
The claim form asks for your role at the business (for example, owner or manager) and a business email address or phone number we can use to confirm the claim. You can also upload proof, which is optional but usually speeds things up. Helpful proof includes:
- A business licence or company registration certificate
- A utility bill in the business name
- An email address on your business's own website domain
The more clearly your proof connects you to the business on the listing, the faster we can approve it. If the name on your documents differs from the listing name, for example a registered company name and a trading name, explain the difference in the form.
Only one claim can be active for a listing at a time. We may refuse or reverse a claim if we find it isn't genuine.
After approval: first 5 things to update
When your claim is approved, the listing moves into your account and you can edit it from your dashboard. Start with these five:
- Check your name, phone number and address. Make sure they match your website and other profiles exactly. Changes to these key details are quickly re-checked by our team, and your listing stays live in the meantime.
- Set your opening hours, including any holiday hours coming up.
- Add photos: your logo, a cover image, the outside of your premises and examples of your work.
- Add your services and prices, with a clear description of what you do.
- Turn on booking and reply to reviews. Set your services and availability so customers can request appointments, and reply to any existing reviews.
The completeness meter in your dashboard shows what's still missing. Our business profile checklist explains what customers look for in each section.
FAQs
How much does it cost to claim my listing?
Claiming requires any paid package, starting with Starter at $0.99. If our team can't confirm your claim, you get a full refund automatically.
How long does a claim take?
Most claims are checked within 1–2 hours. At weekends it can take a few hours.
What if someone else has already claimed my business?
The listing will show a Report incorrect ownership link instead of the claim button. Use it to tell us what has happened, and our team will investigate.
Will I keep the existing reviews?
Yes. When a listing is claimed, its reviews stay with it. You can then reply to each one from your dashboard.
What happens if my plan ends?
A claimed listing that was previously a free Legacy listing goes back to being a free, unclaimed listing, so its public page is not lost. You can claim it again later.
My business isn't listed. What should I do?
Add it as a new listing from the Add listing page. Choose a package, and our team will review it before it goes live.
